IXA
An AI‑Powered Interview Coach for Aspiring UI/UX Designers
/01 Research & Problem Understanding
The Challenge: Landing a UI/UX Job in a Competitive Market
The design job market is crowded. Many talented candidates compete for a limited number of roles, making interviews high-stakes and stressful. To understand these challenges, I conducted surveys and interviews with junior designers.
Key findings:
Anxiety & Pressure: 4 out of 5 participants felt nervous during interviews, unsure how to present themselves.
Lack of Realistic Practice: Most practiced interviews alone, with no feedback or realistic simulation.
Limited Research: Many underprepared when it came to researching the companies they applied to.

/02 Ideation
From Pain Points to Product Idea
Rather than another guide or question list, I envisioned a smart, interactive experience — something more personal and effective.
IXA was born: an AI-powered app that simulates job interviews and provides real-time, actionable feedback tailored to UI/UX roles.
Key Features:
Mock Interviews: Role-specific questions based on job title, company, and experience level
Instant Feedback: AI-generated critique to highlight strengths and suggest improvements
Company Context: Prompts and research reminders based on the target company
Tutorial Hub: Curated articles and exercises to help users continuously grow

/03 Design Process
Designing the User Journey
I created wireframes, flows, and a high-fidelity prototype in Figma. The experience was broken into four main parts:
Onboarding: A quick, thoughtful intake form to personalize the experience.
Interview Screen: A clean, calming interface showing the question, answer input, and AI feedback.
Feedback Summary: A final report with performance insights and personalized learning suggestions.
Tutorials: A resource library with interview and UX-specific guides.

/04 Usability Testing & Iteration
Listening to Users, Refining the Experience
I tested the prototype with 5 junior designers and discovered the following:
Problem: Users didn’t understand why they needed to provide company/job info.
Fix: Added contextual explanations during onboarding.Problem: The three-column layout felt cramped.
Fix: Simplified it to two columns for clarity and better focus.Problem: Users were unsure when the interview ended.
Fix: Added end-of-session indicators and clearer navigation.
